Md Hasan Sofiur Rahman is a dedicated PhD student at the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment, Western Sydney University, under the guidance of Distinguished Professor David Tissue. His CRC research project, titled “Establishing a National Hub for Smart Greenhouse Technology – Energy Saving Films,” is driven by his passion for leveraging technology to enhance the sustainability and efficiency of food production systems.
Prior to commencing his doctoral studies, Hasan completed a bachelor’s degree in agriculture and an MS in Biotechnology from the esteemed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), Bangladesh.
Hasan served as an agricultural scientist at the Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA) since 2018, where he contributed to various research projects aimed at enhancing farming practices’ sustainability.
Hasan’s primary focus is on energy-saving films for greenhouses, recognising their potential to significantly reduce energy costs, enhance crop yields, and improve crop quality. He aspires to deepen his understanding of the factors influencing the energy performance of greenhouse films to ultimately advance food security and increase profitability for farmers.
