Lakey Lakey is currently pursuing his PhD at the School of Biology and Environmental Science at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Brisbane, Australia.
His proposed PhD project seeks to investigate the roles of policy, planning, and governance at different scales in producer decision-making in integrating legumes into production practices, and how these decisions are shaped by and interact with climate-driven shocks. The study intends to provide important insights into the producer perspective vis-à-vis key agri-food system elements, encompassing governance, environment, and economy within the broader context of the plant-protein narrative.
Having worked on several multilateral technical projects for rural development and farming systems in his home country of Bhutan, Lakey is enthusiastic about this study. It not only explores the potential benefits of legume integration as a cornerstone of sustainable plant-based protein production, but also enhances his own understanding of the broader dynamics within agri-food systems
