Fraser Taylor is a specialist in data-driven health interventions, and Managing Director of the globally successful FoodSwitch program at The George Institute for Global Health (The George Institute). After 20-plus years working with global food firms across Europe, North America and Australasia, Taylor became Marketing Director of Kellogg’s ANZ in 2007, joined Sara Lee Australia in 2011, then took a role in a tech-based start-up before joining The George Institute’s Australian division as a consultant to the FoodSwitch project. In this role, Taylor developed a business model to make FoodSwitch more financially sustainable. The award-winning app, now available in more than a dozen countries worldwide, empowers consumers to make better food choices by providing simple health and nutritional information about a scanned product and suggesting healthier alternatives to ‘switch’ to. The platform currently holds data on more than 500,000 food products from around the world. Since 2020, Taylor has also led the CRC’s FoodSwitch Connect project, a pilot for a web-based service that enables those responsible for catered events to identify and source healthier foods from local suppliers.
