Ephraim Achin is a PhD candidate at the Applied Agricultural and Remote Sensing Centre (AARSC) of the University of New England, Armidale. Ephraim’s doctoral thesis involves utilising multiple proximal and remote sensors to evaluate the impact of water stress on the yield, health, and quality of Australian olive tree crops over several years in both closed and open systems. A key focus of his research is to gather precise tree-based measurements using proximal sensors and extrapolate these results to the entire grove through remote sensing techniques. Ephraim’s supervisory team includes A/Professor James Brinkhoff (Principal, UNE/AARSC), Professor Andrew Robson (UNE/AARSC), Dr Jamie Barwick (UNE/Precision Agriculture), and Dr Angelica Suarez (AARSC). Ephraim is a recipient of the Future Food Systems CRC top-up scholarship.
