Claudia is a graduate from the University of Edinburgh, currently studying for their doctorate at the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment, at Western Sydney University. Their thesis focuses on the development of novel technologies to bolster plant resistance, with a focus on the major diseases that affect broccolini crops. They have this to say about their project:
“I love being able to tackle difficult problems and come up with innovative solutions. My main area of interest is plant pathology, and being able to work on pathogens that have a real effect on food production is an amazingly satisfying challenge. I aim to provide practical, sustainable and costeffective solutions that will help growers in Australia and beyond”.
They are working with industry partner and leading Australian horticulture grower-distributor Perfection Fresh, who is supporting their research with an FFSCRC Industry PhD scholarship.
