As part of his PhD research at the University of New England, Angus Dingley is investigating the consequences of temperature extremes on raspberry pollination under polytunnel cultivation. He hopes to discover the ways in which the pollen and ovules, and their interactions, are impacted so that he may be able to suggest actionable mitigating techniques that could be used by growers to improve yields in the event of unfavourable conditions.
Angus is partnered with Associate Professor Romina Rader, Professor Dan Tan, and Professor Andrew Robson on this project, which gives him ‘the greatest opportunity to be successful in helping the industry tackle one of their pre-eminent problems.’
