From the CEO
2021 begins with renewed global commitment to innovation across food systems and significant growth opportunities for our industry partners.
Some of the world’s biggest investors are throwing their weight behind the future foods megatrend - see, for example,
this CNBC story about how to ‘ride the boom’.
Meanwhile, the United Nations is hosting its inaugural Food Systems Summit in September ‘to launch bold new actions to transform the way the world produces and consumes food, delivering progress on all 17 Sustainable Development Goals’.
Significant growth in demand is projected for products with nutritional and environmental credentials, and Australian growers and manufacturers are in a good position to benefit.
With this in mind, we’re pleased to announce that Australia’s largest health-food company, Sanitarium, has joined the CRC.
In its initial project with the CRC, Sanitarium is collaborating with food-tech experts in UNSW’s School of Chemical Engineering to optimise the functional attributes of selected Sanitarium products, including The Alternative Dairy Co’s Barista range of plant-based milks.
Sanitarium joins our cohort of innovative growers, manufacturers and solution providers, who are variously working to optimise their systems and bring high-quality products to market.

CEO, Future Food Systems
