Future Food Systems (FFS) CEO, Dr James Krahe today announced that Perth, Western Australia, will host the second iteration of the Future Food Systems Summit, titled For Food’s Sake - It's our future, in February 2024.
Following on from a successful inaugural Summit in 2022, For Food’s Sake activities will take place over a four-day period, beginning on Tuesday 20 February and concluding on Friday 23 February 2024. For Food’s Sake will touch on an array of thought-provoking and topical issues affecting Australia’s agrifood sector and will look at the technologies, research, trends and innovations that will shape the future of food in Australia and abroad.
“We are excited to take the Future Food Systems Summit to Perth. Western Australia has a long and proud agricultural history, combined with a flourishing food and beverage manufacturing sector. This is a great opportunity for guests to hear from some of the best minds from the research sector and stakeholders within the state’s agrifood industry. The Summit also provides a platform for collaboration, with guests and speakers alike sharing ideas on how we can further boost Australia’s agrifood sector for a more profitable and sustainable future for all to benefit.” Dr Krahe said.
Future Food Systems will be hosting an exhibition stand, incorporating industry-partners, at the popular agrifood-tech event evokeAG., which is being held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre on Tuesday 20 February and Wednesday 21 February. Future Food Systems will continue the momentum from evokeAG., hosting a Gala Dinner on the evening of Wednesday 21 February. A full-day scientific conference style program will take place on Thursday at Murdoch University with panels and speakers representing research, government and industry covering a range of topics, from the future food menu to automation.
Themes for the Summit will be central to Future Food Systems’ core mission: to develop smart, sustainable, resilient food systems that capitalise on our nation’s unique strengths, ensure Australian agrifood products have a competitive edge in key target markets, and shore up food security in coming decades to meet Australia's future food needs by developing and modernising systems for production, growth, manufacturing, distribution, and innovation. Through this effort, we will ensure a thriving and sustainable food supply for the country while also enhancing Australia's global reputation as a leader in agrifood.
For Food’s Sake will conclude with a tour and opening of the state-of-the-art Food Technology Facility at the Food Innovation Precinct Western Australia (FIPWA), near Mandurah, on Friday.
Dr Krahe acknowledged the valuable contribution of Future Food Systems research and event partner Murdoch University to the upcoming Summit. “Thank you to the team from Murdoch University for their support in making this event happen. We anticipate that we will double our attendance from the last Summit, with upwards of 300 guests expected. The fantastic facilities within the Murdoch campus will be more than well equipped to host us.”
