Hear a panel of industry experts – including former Chief Scientist of NSW and Co-Chair of the 2022 NSW Flood Inquiry, Professor Mary O’Kane AC – discuss opportunities and challenges for NSW agriculture and agrifood industries and explore the role strong farms will play in securing NSW’s and the nation’s recovery from COVID-19. An interactive function enables audience members to pose questions to the panellists.
According to NSW Farmers President James Jackson, climate extremes, biosecurity threats, disruptions to international trade and surging inflation are putting pressure on food security.
“The challenge of growing world-class food and fibre for people is more important than ever,” Jackson said.
“This year, we have seen how vital it is to have a strong farming sector and robust supply chains, with floods causing chaos across the country. As the peak farming body for the state, we’re taking the lead in tackling these challenges head-on.
“It’s crucial we put the best heads together to come up with the innovative solutions that will drive our sector – and our food security – forward. I would encourage anyone with an interest in Securing the Future of Farming to come along to the event, take part in the discussions, and help build a stronger future for agriculture.”
