Modern Manufacturing Initiative info session

In coming weeks, Australian manufacturers in key sectors can apply for government funding under the Modern Manufacturing Initiative’s Translation and Integration streams to help them scale up, create jobs, collaborate and access new domestic and global markets.

This free info session, now available on demand, aims to give prospective applicants the information they need to enable them to lodge successful applications.

What are the MMI Manufacturing Translation and Integration streams?

The Modern Manufacturing Initiative (MMI), the centrepiece of the Australian Government’s Modern Manufacturing Strategy (MMS), provides co-funding for local manufacturing projects across two streams.

The Manufacturing Translation Stream is designed to help Australian manufacturers, including makers of food and beverage products, ‘translate high-quality research and ideas into commercial outcomes’ and support existing agrifood businesses in scaling up and becoming more competitive and resilient.
The Manufacturing Integration Stream is aimed at helping Australian manufacturers access value chains domestically and internationally; get their goods and services into new markets; and foster the nation’s reputation as a leader in modern manufacturing.

What funding is available?

Australian Government funding will be provided on a co-investment basis, covering up to 50 per cent of eligible project expenditure. The MMI Translation and Integration funding rounds for the various priority areas will open in coming weeks, starting with the space manufacturing sector.

The information session

The 90-minute overview session, hosted by AusIndustry, includes information on:

eligibility requirements for funding under both streams;
key assessment criteria, and
general tips on how to present a strong application.

The first round of the MMI Translation and Integrations streams is for the Space National Manufacturing Priority. Funding rounds for the other five National Manufacturing Priorities will open in coming weeks.
