Now in its 8th year, the Developing Northern Australia Conference aligns closely with but is independent from the Australian Government’s ‘Our North, Our Future: White Paper on Developing Northern Australia’.
‘Our North, Our Future’ is a 20-year plan released in 2015 to drive growth, investment and support in the region via six pillars:
- Global positioning – security, defence and space;
- Next-generation agriculture and water;
- Energy and resources;
- Enabling infrastructure;
- Liveability, affordability and workforce; and
- Mobilising indigenous-led development
Held every second year, the conference offers attendees the chance to discuss challenges and opportunities aligned with each pillar and reflect upon progress made.
Conference outcomes have a major influence on policy and program development, problem-solving and investment attraction across Australia’s north.
In 2022, the theme is ‘A Lead on Inclusive Development for the 21st Century’.
