In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and its associated impacts on food security, and shifting government priorities around encouraging local food manufacturing, the City of Canning engaged BCEC to assess the economic case for and opportunities likely to stem from developing a food value-add precinct in the Canning Vale industrial area of Perth, WA.
This free-of-charge, public-facing event is an opportunity for stakeholders and interested parties to hear directly from the BCEC research team.
Representatives of the team will share their findings, identifying strengths on which a food value-adding hub in Canning could capitalise, including:
- access to key infrastructure;
- a ready workforce in the region; and
- an existing cluster of food-related industries.
The research team will also provide its recommendations for a shared approach to developing such a precinct.
The presentations will be followed by Q&A and networking session, with drinks and nibbles provided.
When and where?
The event is scheduled to take place on Thursday 23 June 2022 from 4- 6pm (doors open from 3:45pm) AWST, at the Function Room in the City of Canning Administration Building, 1317 Albany Highway, Cannington, WA. View venue on a map.
