Post-pandemic, it will be even more important that we take approaches to food science that help us to build safe, secure and sustainable systems for food production and distribution. This is the theme of this year’s highly unusual Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology (AIFST) Convention, which will be staged as a virtual event.
Tagged ‘Embracing digital connectivity’, the four-day online conference component and accompanying online exhibition will focus on the tech-enabled future of food. Four interconnected themes will be explored over the four days: food safety (Day 1); health, nutrition and consumer science (Day 2); future food production (Day 3) and food security, sustainability and waste (Day 4).
Once again, it is expected that the convention will bring together a diverse, dynamic line-up of international and local speakers, experts in their respective fields, to share knowledge, insights and learnings on what the future could hold for the food industry, across Australia and further afield. While it is yet to be finalised, the speaker line-up will likely include Future Food System CRC participants.
Though the convention will be delivered virtually, attendees will be able to ask questions, join the discussion and interact with fellow participants from wherever they are in the world. And if you’re unable to attend a live session, you can listen to a recording of it at your convenience after the fact.
