It has been an action-packed few months here at Future Food Systems (FFS), with new partnerships announced and exciting initiatives in the pipeline.
Recently, I had the pleasure of travelling to Western Australia to visit our partners at the Food Innovation Precinct Western Australia (FIPWA) and receive the latest updates on the progress of the Sustainable Innovative Food Technologies (SIFT) centre located within the Precinct.
During my visit, I had the honour of participating in the WA Food and Beverage Alliance (WAFBA) Annual Leaders Roundtable as well as attending “Scaling Up WA’s Food & Beverage Sector,” hosted by ScaleUP WA. Both sessions focused on exploring new market opportunities and sharing strategies to build on solid foundations for a strong and sustainable sector, with partners including DPIRD, the Shire of Murray, City of Canning and FIPWA.
The future looks bright for WA as collaboration will play a key role in driving innovation and success in the industry, especially with SIFT, enabling the transformation of ingredients produced by farmers into value-added food products using state-of-the-art equipment and new technologies.
Partnerships
On the stakeholder front, we are excited to officially welcome ARYZTA as an industry partner. With a business model dedicated to addressing local market needs and creating value for customers and consumers, ARYZTA is well-aligned with FFS’s vision for the future of food systems.
The partnership between ARYZTA and FFS opens doors to exciting projects in logistics, automation, and value-adding that will benefit both the partnership and the broader agrifood sector. Leveraging FFS’s connections to research, industry, and government, both organisations are poised to unlock new opportunities and drive innovation in the field.
Engagement opportunities
In other exciting news, early bird tickets are now available for next year’s For Food’s Sake event in Coffs Harbour, with a special 20% discount for guests purchasing a ticket before 31 July. Held over two days at Pacific Bay Resort, For Food’s Sake will commence on 27 February and conclude on 28 February 2025. The event will focus on collaboration and ignite discussions on pivotal topics to further propel Australia’s agrifood sector forward. Key focuses include waste valorisation, circular economy, planning and policy setting, value-adding, automation, food security, and other critical aspects to strengthen local economies.
On a final note, and continuing with events in Coffs Harbour, FFS and partners, City of Coffs Harbour and Queensland University of Technology (QUT), are co-hosting a special event related to the Coffs Agrifood Living Lab (CALL) project on 23 July. The “CALL: Boosting Coffs’ Agrifood Industry” event will provide a platform to connect with fellow stakeholders in the agrifood sector and discover the essential ingredients for successful industry partnerships. Guests will also hear about the upcoming food and beverage manufacturing precinct in Queensland—TURBINE—and receive a Coffs Agrifood Living Lab (CALL) progress update from facilitators Dr Oz Dedehayir and Dr Jack Adams.
We are looking forward to seeing you at these events and forging new connections.
All the best,
Dr James Krahe
